Ukulele Lessons

Want to learn ukulele? How this works:

The Ukulele is a fun and relatively easy instrument to learn. It’s portable so you can take it with you in the car, to the cabin, the beach, or just about anywhere. Because of its recent rise in popularity, there is lots of fun music to learn and to play! Students as young as 6 years old can learn to play Ukulele. They will learn about the fundamentals of music and have a ton of fun playing traditional or popular music. Our ukulele instructors teach folk, country, reggae and rock-n-roll styles — and classical too. Beginners work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. Each lesson will challenge you with a new song, technique or topic in music theory, and then end with something fun – such as your favorite riff or song. We employ a variety of ukulele method books based on the individual student’s needs and preferences. Our teachers also encourage students to bring smartphones or CDs to their lessons so that they can learn their favorite tunes.

We care about your musical interests

Loving the music you play is important to a good Ukulele learning experience. That is why our teachers will always strive to help you learn the style and types of music you enjoy.  And if you or your child aren’t quite sure what music might be the most enjoyable to learn, our teachers will help you discover it! Whether you’re playing in local bands, a six-year-old taking their first lesson, or an adult student returning to the ukulele after many years, your teacher will help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

Good technique starts here

While emphasizing the style of music you love is important, good technique is vital to long-term success playing the ukulele. We will always work to make sure that all of our ukulele students are not only enjoying their lessons, but that they are learning the “right” way, and developing the techniques that will lead to a lifetime of success.

Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background, you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are playing the songs and exercises a certain number of times each day, you can help your child achieve steady progress. Many parents will sit in on their child’s lessons on occasion in order to have a better idea of the way a song should sound, or how the student should maintain the correct posture while playing. Though it’s not required, our teachers can help parents be involved with their child’s learning to whatever extent that they are able. Helping the student achieve independence with their at home practice is one of the keys to long term progress.
