Newtown Drum Lessons
Want to learn to play the drums? How this works:
Newtown drum lessons make learning exciting for students and stress-free for parents! While drums can be loud, beginners can start with a simple practice pad and drumsticks to master the basics of rhythm. This quiet and affordable option helps students build their skills without the noise.
When a student is ready to take the next step, investing in a drum set is a fantastic choice. You can choose between traditional acoustic drums or electric drum sets, which allow for practice with headphones to keep the noise level down. During your Newtown drum lessons, your teacher will guide you in selecting the perfect drum set to match your needs and goals!
What age can students begin drum lessons?
Students may begin drum lessons as young as 6 or 7 years old, but 8 or 9 is a more typical starting age. Younger drum students can benefit from a few years of piano lessons first, but we don’t require it.

Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background, you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are playing the songs and exercises a certain number of times each day, you can help your child achieve steady progress. Many parents will sit in on their child’s drum lessons on occasion in order to have a better idea of the way a song should sound, or how the student should be holding their sticks. Though it’s not required, our teachers can help parents be involved with their child’s learning to whatever extent that they are able. Helping the student achieve independence with their at home practice is one of the keys to long term progress.
