Newtown Brass Lessons

Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, French Horn Lessons

Want to learn trumpet, trombone or one of the other brass instruments? How this works:

Our Brass instrument lessons are designed to teach students the fundamentals of technique, note reading, ear training and more. Our teachers can help students explore a variety of musical styles in order to enhance their learning experience, and they are experienced working with beginners through advanced levels. Many parents enroll their child in brass lessons when they are around the age of 9 or 10 and are joining their school band program for the first time.

How do private lessons help students who are in their school band?
We are fortunate to have wonderful band programs in our local schools. In those programs students usually receive a weekly group lesson, but supplementing that experience with a weekly private lesson at our school will be of great benefit to either the beginning or more advanced band student.

Not all of our brass students play in their school’s band; some just want to learn for their own enjoyment, or to play with friends. Some adults want to improve their skills before joining a local community band. Our teachers can help every age and type of student who wants to learn to play a brass instrument.

We care about your musical interests

Loving the music you play is key to an enjoyable and successful learning experience for brass students. That’s why our teachers are dedicated to helping you learn the styles and songs you love. If you or your child aren’t sure what music you’ll enjoy most, we’ll guide you in discovering it!

For students in school bands, lesson time can focus on improving their band performance while also exploring music they find exciting and fun. Whether you’re a nine-year-old taking your first lesson, an adult returning to brass after years away, or a seasoned player looking to refine your skills, we’ll create a personalized plan to help you achieve your musical goals.

Good technique starts here

While focusing on the music you love is important, mastering good technique is essential for long-term success on a brass instrument. Our goal is to ensure that every student not only enjoys their lessons but also learns proper techniques that build a strong foundation for a lifetime of successful playing.

Yes. Even if you don’t have a musical background, you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are playing the songs and exercises a certain number of times each day, you can help your child achieve steady progress. Many parents will sit in on their child’s lessons on occasion in order to have a better idea of the way a song should sound, or how the student should maintain the correct posture while playing. Though it’s not required, our teachers can help parents be involved with their child’s learning to whatever extent that they are able. Helping the student achieve independence with their at home practice is one of the keys to long term progress.
